Virtual Server Cluster
Our fully managed load-balanced virtual machine-based solutions are being offered as a better choice, rather than the traditional single virtual or physical solutions offered on the Internet today.
With the ability to fine tune each of the four virtual server in a cluster to their specific tasks rather than all tasks directly competing with each other for resources on a single physical server, you gain an advantage towards better web application performance and stability.
Virtual Server Clusters - Plan Types:
Virtual Server Cluster - Starter: As low as $45/month.
Virtual Server Cluster - Preferred: As low as $270/month
Virtual Server Cluster - Advanced: As low as $720/month.
Each cluster option above includes four (4) virtual servers setup as two load balanced web servers, one database server, and one for file, mysql and cron management via ssh. The differences are the amount of cpus, ram, and other performance resources. All powered by the advanced functionality of VMware vSphere, not leaving you locked to a single physical server or back-end storage array.
Finally, when the time comes that your web site outgrows the ability of our Virtual Server Clusters, the migration over to a Private Resource Cluster is a seamless process!
What do you mean by "fully managed" hosting?
This refers to the type of server level administration we provide. root/shell access is retained by our staff on the web and database servers. We only configure and maintain the software and server daemons included in our base Ubuntu Server LTS installations, ie: versions of apache, mysql, perl, php, sftp access, etc. keeping consistency and reliability across our product lines.
Backups of web files and database servers are also provided, but of course we recommend clients consider keeping their own local backups before important changes, upgrades, or just in general for added protection.
Clients have user level shell access on the separate shell server setup, this allows clients to use ssh, sftp, and ssh tunneling to mysql for a variety of file and database management tasks.
We handle the server side administration and maintenance of your systems, you supply and maintain the web applications that power your web site. Simple as that.
What are the details about php memory, execution time, and file upload size limits are for php scripts?
Sure, below you will find the pre-set limits, and as your virtual server cluster has dedicated resources strictly for your usage, these can be increased on request.
* Changing of preset limits below should take into consideration the actual amount of RAM your servers actually have.
Default:
* php memory usage = 64 MB
* php script execution = 90 sec.
* php max_post_size = 20 MB
* php max_upload = 20 MB
What hardware is used, and what virtualization technology do you use?
Our Load-balanced VPS hosting solutions are currently powered by a mix of 24 and 32 cpu core physical servers, with between 128 and 256 Gigabytes of RAM on each physical server. Central web storage is powered by enterprise-grade Netapp FAS storage arrays via NFS mount points. Storage solutions are optimized, highly available Netapp storage systems, different storage systems are used for virtual server OS, web file storage and database server configurations for maximum performance across the different file systems.
Virtualization is provided by VMware's vSphere, the industry’s first cloud operating system. vSphere is the next evolutionary step in IT computing, built on a proven virtualization platform. vSphere was selected by us to provide the foundation for delivering the highest levels of application service performance, stability and security to our clients.
Can you explain a bit more about the VPS Resources in the table above?:
vCPU - Each vCPU (virtual cpu) is equal to the processing ability as outlined in each plan ie: 1.7, 2.0 or 2.3 Ghz
RAM - The amount of RAM provided is fully allocated to each of your virtual servers in the cluster.
Monitoring - Resource utilization levels for each of your virtual servers in the cluster, and the underlying full physical servers are monitored at all times and constantly reviewed by our staff members to maintain high levels of performance and up-time. When required by resource usage levels on a given physical server your virtual systems will be seamlessly moved to other physical servers, and/or underlying storage arrays with no down-time or impact to your visitors. This is provided by the advanced functionality of VMware's vMotion and Storage vMotion technologies.
